The story of the ' bags' and how it all started................................

I am Lesley Mann, a Scottish community nurse, who,  three years ago  created the opportunity to work in Malawi, as a volunteer,in an infant home called OpenArms.

Before travelling out to Malawi a friend and I started to make and sell  some felt bags in order to raise funds for Open arms. On my return I brought back some fabulous cotton fabrics and started to use these to line the wool bags.

Some lovely hand carved wooden buttons made by the local carvers finished the bags to make a unique product.

Since then I have made two further trips in my capacity as a nurse. While there I have linked up again with the woodcarvers who  have made me  some celtic designs and recently, copied a variety of shapes along with the lovely African animals that are their byword.

The aim of wool and wood is to bring together the natural resources of Scotland and Malawi to produce a truly unique range of 'bags'.
